Paul Johnston is a hard-working volunteer. He started out as a coach in Hazeldean and shortly thereafter became the Hazeldean director. After a couple of years, Paul became the Southeast Zone chairperson. By this time, Paul's children no longer played minor soccer. Nevertheless, he continued to attend many meetings and sat on numerous committees, selflessly giving up his valuable time so that the children of the Southeast Zone could enjoy playing soccer. The Southeast Mini Soccer Festival was renamed the Paul Johnston Mini Festival in 1998 in recognition of his outstanding contribution.

In recognizing Paul,  we  recognize all the many volunteers who help make the soccer season. These people also give much of their time to help create an enjoyable year-round activity. All volunteers are rewarded by the sight of children learning new skills and sportsmanship, making new friends, staying healthy and fit, and most importantly, having fun.
